"Digital Action" installation of laser-cut woodblocks, variable sizes, 2015
"Digital Action," began with visualizations of my daily computer use. I recorded my daily computer use—everything from web browsing to designing in Adobe—and retraced the mouse movements from videos. From these traces, I laser-cut the drawings as wood-blocks, and printed them. Each color represents a different program, like Illustrator (yellow-orange) or Facebook (blue). By bringing these digital actions into physical form, I began to see them from a new perspective, as if my online presence took up actual space. Translating these actions from the computer makes them tangible. These prints invite a contemplation of my digital routine that is more personal than the tracking technologies which would follow my online movements without my knowledge.
